Paid Research Survey for Australians
Thank you for your interest in participating in this research project. Please take the time to read the following information prior to completing the survey.
What is this research about?
Within the last few years, Australia has provided a number of immigration incentives and opportunities for migrants to work in the early childhood education sector. Official reports have indicated a high increase in the number of migrants entering and working in the sector after the incentives were introduced. However, little is known about migrant teachers’ experiences and their journeys as early childhood teachers in Victoria.
This research will answer these questions by collecting data from participants who self-identify as Southeast Asian migrants working as early childhood teachers.
The project aims to:
• Hear the voices and stories of migrant early childhood teachers,
• Explore the challenges and issues that are influencing the process of becoming, belonging, and being early childhood teachers for migrants,
• Identify and understand the actions and strategies used by migrant early childhood teachers to navigate through the challenges and issues,
• To discuss the role and position of migrant early childhood teachers in the sector.
What is this survey for?
The survey is used for two purposes. Firstly, it is used to determine whether interested individuals meet the eligibility criteria of this research. Secondly, due to the small sample size of the project, this survey is used to allow the researchers to select participants that are most suitable for this project.
Please note that the data collected in this survey will not be used in the project, unless you are invited to and agree to participate in the project. Unused data will be destroyed once all participants have been selected for the project.
What will I be doing in the research?
If you are invited to the study, you will participate in three individual interview sessions (face-to-face or online), which include an activity where you a draw visual life-map about your migration and career journeys as a migrant early childhood teacher in Victoria. Each session is expected to last up to 60 minutes, meaning the total time commitment will be up to 3 hours.
You will receive a $50 gift card in recognition of your time and expertise for this study.
