Paid research study: Evaluate a personal photo search system and receive a $35 eVisa gift card (Worldwide, 18+)

 Do you have a large personal photo collection and an established Facebook photo history?

We are recruiting participants to evaluate a research prototype designed to help people find and organize their personal photos.

Study details

  • Compensation: $35 electronic Visa Gift Card after successful completion

  • Location: Participate from anywhere in the world

  • Time required: Approximately two hours; most processing is automatic

  • Deadline: Friday, August 28, 2026

  • Availability: At least 10 openings, filled on a first-come, first-served basis

Eligibility requirements

You must:

  • Be at least 18 years old.

  • Have a Windows computer with at least 8 GB of RAM, 10 GB of free storage, and a reliable internet connection.

  • Have at least 100 photos that you uploaded to Facebook within the last two years.

  • Have at least 10 original Facebook photo posts from the last two years, with captions on the majority of them.

  • Have at least 1,000 personal photos covering the same period as your Facebook photos.

Important photo requirements

  • Facebook photos must be your own uploads—not shared, tagged, reposted, or uploaded by someone else.

  • Facebook photo posts must be your own original posts. Most should include genuine captions from your existing Facebook activity.

  • Your Facebook photos and posts must be part of an established Facebook history and reasonably distributed across the last two years. Recently bulk-uploaded content added specifically to meet the eligibility requirements will not be accepted.

  • Your personal photo collection must cover the same general period and reasonably reflect the people, places, activities, and events represented in your Facebook photos. An unrelated collection or photos from a different period will not qualify.

  • If the photos are not already on your computer, you may transfer them from your phone, Google Drive, OneDrive, or another storage service.

Participation also requires signing a consent form and completing a free Meta Developer registration using the same Facebook account. You will not need to create a Meta app.

Eligibility and photo requirements will be verified. A submission will not count, and compensation cannot be provided, if the requirements are not satisfied or the evaluation is not successfully completed with an eligible photo collection.

  Syracuse University is conducting a study on stressful events and alcohol and substance use. Participation would involve completing surveys and interview assessments for 2 hours with the research team.   You can participate online or in-person in Syracuse, NY.   If you are 18 – 65 years old, drink alcohol, have experienced a stressful life event, agree to consent to audio recording, live within the U.S. and have a valid email address, you may be eligible to participate!
