Supervision of Neurodivergent Research Students: Exploring Student and Supervisor Perspectives. $50
What is the project about?
Despite growing recognition of the strengths and needs of neurodivergent people, the needs of neurodivergent university students are often not met, with university staff indicating that they do not feel equipped to provide such support. We also know that the needs of undergraduate and research students in postgraduate degrees are different. As such, it is timely that neurodivergent students’ learning needs are better understood to inform resources for themselves and for university staff. Improving the support for neurodivergent students could form a more inclusive learning environment, fostering productivity, belonging, and more equitable outcomes for neurodivergent academics during and beyond their studies. The present project will compare the mental health, social connection, and academic outcomes for neurodivergent and neurotypical undergraduate and research students.
What tasks are asked of me if I agree to participate in this research?
