Chiropractic Patients' Views on Triggers of Low Back Pain

The survey is intended for individuals with chronic recurrent low back pain. To be eligible, you need to be between 18 and 45 years of age, reside in Australia, and experience low back pain for the past 12 months, and your back pain is mainly managed by a chiropractor.

This study is designed to explore chiropractic patients’ views and knowledge about factors that may trigger episodes of low back pain (LBP). Through a short survey, we aim to identify the most common triggers reported by patients and examine whether these differ by demographic or clinical characteristics, such as age, gender, occupation, history of LBP, pain intensity, or disability level. We would also like to know your sources of information about pain triggers and prevention strategies, as well as your level of satisfaction with the information you have received from your chiropractic clinicians in this regard. The findings will provide valuable insights into patients’ perspectives and may help chiropractors and other healthcare professionals tailor prevention strategies to individual needs, thereby enhancing patient education within evidence-based care.

I am Emad Ardakani, a PhD student at Murdoch University, and I am interested in identifying the common triggering factors for low back pain among chiropractic patients and how these factors differ among patients. I would appreciate your help in answering a few questions which will take approximately 10 - 15 minutes to complete. The survey is completely anonymous and voluntary. Should you change your mind at any time and decide to withdraw, simply close your browser, and you will automatically exit the survey. Note, however, that once you click the 'submit' button at the end of the survey, your responses will be uploaded and cannot be withdrawn or amended, as we cannot tie them to you as an individual.

None of the information you provide will be/can be linked back to you as an individual. De-identified data will be stored for 5 years after the outcomes and the data of this study are published. A summary of our findings will be published on the School of Allied Health webpage of the Murdoch University website. You can expect to receive this feedback approximately six months after your participation.

While it is possible that there may be no direct benefit to you from participation in this study, the knowledge gained from your participation may help others in the future. You will, however, have the opportunity to enter a prize draw of five $100 e-gift cards once you complete the survey, if you'd like to. You will need to enter your email address for this, but it will be kept separate from your survey responses.
